Batu Layar opens the Senggigi strip. Coming from Mataram it is the first sea you reach, which makes it the most everyday piece of coastline on the island — used by residents as much as visitors.

Pura Batu Bolong sits on a rock outcrop with the sea running through a natural hole beneath it, and Rinjani visible behind on a clear day. Just inland, the tomb at Batu Layar is a pilgrimage site that draws visitors from across Lombok, particularly before Ramadan.

Closest beach living to Mataram

Ten to fifteen minutes to the city means this works as ordinary housing rather than a holiday address. Schools, hospitals and offices stay in daily reach. That combination is rare, and it is the main reason people buy here rather than further north.

Small hospitality and everyday trade

The strip supports guesthouses, warungs and small restaurants serving both visitors and the steady local traffic heading to Senggigi. It does not carry the volume the main Senggigi centre does, and the plots are generally smaller.

Before you buy

Coastal setback rules apply on anything touching the water. The main road is the only artery, so check access and parking carefully for a business. On older buildings, confirm the permit matches what is standing.
